The **Dashboard PIN Lock** adds an extra layer of security to your Dotb dashboard. When enabled, sensitive areas like billing, settings, and account management are protected behind a 4-digit PIN — while everyday features like managing items and orders remain accessible.

This is useful if you share the Dotb account and want to prevent accidental access to critical account settings.

## Setting Up Your PIN

You can set up a dashboard PIN from your [account settings](/users/settings):

1. Navigate to **Settings** from the user menu
2. Scroll to the **Dashboard PIN** section
3. Enter a 4-digit PIN and confirm it
4. Click **Set PIN** to enable protection

Once set, the dashboard will require your PIN to access protected areas.

## Unlocking the Dashboard

When you navigate to a protected area, the lock screen appears:

1. Enter your 4-digit PIN
2. Click **Unlock**

The dashboard unlocks for your current session. Closing the browser or logging out will lock it again.

## Updating or Removing Your PIN

To change or disable your PIN:

1. Go to **Settings** → **Dashboard PIN**
2. To change: enter your **current PIN** set a new one
3. To disable: enter your **current PIN** and click **Disable PIN Protection**

Your current PIN is always required before making changes — this prevents unauthorized modifications.

## Locking the Dashboard

Once a PIN is set, you can lock the dashboard at any time:

1. Click your profile in the top-right corner
2. Select **Lock dashboard** from the dropdown menu

The dashboard immediately locks, and you'll need to enter your PIN to access protected areas again.

## What's Available When Locked

When the dashboard is locked, you can still access:

| Saved items          | ✅ Available |
| New item             | ✅ Available |
| Pending import items | ✅ Available |
| Orders               | ✅ Available |

This way, your employees can manage items and orders without accessing sensitive account areas.

## Forgot Your PIN?

If you forget your PIN, you can reset it via email:

1. On the lock screen, click **Forgot PIN?**
2. A reset link is sent to your registered email
3. Click the link in the email
4. Your PIN is removed, and you regain full access

After resetting, you can set a new PIN from settings if desired.
